L-Spine Kinetics

You are here:

Overview

The Lumbar Kinetics tool in Metriks reports peak and time-history data of axial force (tension/compression) and the flexion/extension (Y) moments through the full vertebra of each lumbar vertebrae (L1 –L5) and reported in their respective local coordinate systems per SAE J211.

Requirements

Cross-sections through the full vertebra of each lumbar vertebra (L1–L5) are included in a hidden instrumentation folder that is shipped with Metriks. A folder titled “instrumentation” will install in the installation folder of Metriks (i.e. “C:/Program Files (x86)/metriks”). This folder is organized by model and version. The keyword file that should be copied and included in a Dyna simulation will look like: GHBMC_M50-O_v5.1.1_TL-Spine_Instrumentation.k

Calculation Methods

The cross-section outputs for the selected lumbar vertebral level(s) in the drop-down menu will be plotted according to the following methods.

1. Extract cross-sectional Z force and cross-sectional Y moment from each cross-section output. Default cross-section ID can be modified in Human Body Model Settings.

2. Filter each trace individually. The default filter frequency can be modified in Calculation Settings
